I wanted to share my response to this quesiton here for your readers, with slight editing:
I would expect a different conversation from each group. Depending on what each said, I would want to interact with both. And in some cases, this can be the same in one. I believe that this applies to any company depending on the goals you’re seeking to achieve.
With regard to what type of conversation I would expect with a company versus an individual, my response was:
I think the nature of “conversation” is different. I go to a corporate brand to hear about the company news, promotion and possibly their perspective on industry events, especially if I’m a customer, reporter, analyst, prospect and/or employee. As for an individual, the “conversation” may still cover these topics, but this puts a “personal” touch to my communication.
Thanks for continuing the conversation!

I struggle with classifying a company distributing news, promotions, and perspectives as being a member of a 'conversation.'
There is a lot of buzz about 'joining the conversation.' I think the response has been more of an expansion of previous one-way communication strategies into varied social media channels.
Sometimes I wonder if it takes some of the 'social' out of the medium.
